"baba"        Tavares

Born and raised in Hawai'i, Joshua "Baba" Tavares grew up singing with his dad and dancing hula with his mom. Music and dance were always a part of his childhood but he found his true passion in high school when he made his theatrical debut as Ryan Evans in High School Musical. Iconic. After seeing several Broadway shows with his drama club he knew he would pursue a career as an actor. He trained as a triple threat at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo and the American Musical and Dramatic Academy (AMDA) in New York City. He was most recently seen strutting across North America as Angel in the 20th Anniversary Tour of RENT. He also represented Hawaiʻi as a model, opening the show for Native Hawaiian brand, Dezigns by Kamohoaliʻi at New York Fashion Week 2021. He is currently in Graduate School at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, teaching and getting his Master's in Acting & Hawaiian Theatre.  Live with aloha! No day but today!
