JOSHUA "BABA" TAVARES

Joshua "Baba" Tavares (he/him) is a Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian) actor, singer, dancer, writer, director and teacher based in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. He recently graduated from UH Mānoa with his MFA in Theatre and now serves as the Assistant Professor of Acting. Known for his standout performance as Angel in the 20th Anniversary National Tour of the Broadway musical RENT, he's also a pioneer in Hawaiʻi's theatre scene, originating captivating roles and creating groundbreaking original works including: Haku Wale and Glitter in the Paʻakai. He also has credits in TV/Film including an upcoming co-star in Fox's new series, Rescue HI Surf. Most recently he joined the company of Cirque du Soleil's new Waikīkī show, ʻAUANA. Baba is a passionate storyteller and teacher and his unwavering commitment to his craft and community shines both on and off the stage and screen. Mahalo!
